Strengthening Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) with NABARD Support
Under the guidance and support of NABARD, Gaon Gathana Samiti has been actively involved in the strengthening and development of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in Odisha.
Earlier managed by SUVIDHA NGO, two FPOs—BFPCL (Baanki Farmers Producer Company Ltd.) and DFOFPCL (Dompada Fresh Organic Farmers Producer Company Ltd.)—were handed over to Gaon Gathana Samiti for continued development and hand holding support after SUVIDHA’s withdrawal.
Despite several challenges, Gaon Gathana Samiti could not take forward the work of DFOFPCL. However, the organisation has been consistently providing structured handholding and capacity-building support to BFPCL, which has shown notable progress over time.
As of today:
- BFPCL FPO has grown to 503 active farmer-members
- The organisation is witnessing steady business growth through collective efforts
- Training, governance strengthening, and market linkages have been regularly facilitated
This success highlights Gaon Gathana Samiti’s commitment to strengthening grassroots institutions and promoting sustainable agri-based livelihoods with the support of NABARD.
