With the support of NABARD, Gaon Gathana Samiti successfully implemented a Livelihood and Enterprise Development Programme (LEDP) on Spice Processing and Packaging in Kaitha village, under Pingala Gram Panchayat, Sukinda block, Jajpur district.
This initiative trained 90 rural women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs), providing them with:
- Free hands-on training in spice making and value addition
- Entrepreneurship development support
- Essential machinery and equipment to begin small-scale production
- Market linkage guidance for income generation
In Kaitha village, what once began as everyday kitchen spices has become a symbol of hope and transformation. Turmeric, chili, coriander, and blended masalas—ingredients long used in homes—are now creating new pathways to dignity and income for rural women. Through patient, hands-on training and enterprise support, the programme helped women turn their skills into sustainable, home-based businesses, often for the first time in their lives.
For many participants, this journey marked a turning point. Women who once had limited economic choices are now confident entrepreneurs, contributing steadily to their household incomes and taking pride in their independence. Beyond earnings, the programme has sparked something deeper—self-belief, leadership, and a stronger voice within families and communities. By investing in these women, the initiative has planted seeds of lasting change, inspiring an entire village to imagine a more resilient and empowered future.

This LEDP model reflects Gaon Gathana Samiti’s mission to empower rural women through livelihood-based capacity building and sustainable economic opportunities.
