Gaon Gathana Samiti, in collaboration with the Odisha Bamboo Mission, successfully organized a Training Programme on Bamboo Crafts at Bilipada Gram Panchayat. The initiative was specifically designed to build the livelihood skills of Self-Help Group (SHG) women members, focusing on bamboo-based artisan techniques.
During the training, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of bamboo craftwork, including traditional and modern techniques for creating utility and decorative items. The program aimed to enhance their craftsmanship and prepare them for market-oriented production.
As a result of this intervention, the trained SHG women have gained confidence, skills, and the ability to generate their own income. Many of them have now become self-reliant entrepreneurs in their respective villages and are serving as role models and sources of inspiration for others in the community.
This initiative is a part of Gaon Gathana Samiti’s broader commitment to sustainable livelihood promotion through the revival of traditional crafts and capacity-building of rural women.
